Volvo in Wrocław

In 1995, the Volvo Group opened its first truck manufacturing plant in Wrocław. A year later another plant was erected next to it – a bus factory.
In 1998, Volvo Bus Corporation decided to set up a European Bus Production Hub in Wrocław. At present, the factory manufactures over 700 buses a year that are sold to customers all over Europe. The plant provides the region with all types of buses: city buses, intercity buses and luxury coaches.
In 2002, Volvo Construction Equipment started the production of construction equipment in Wrocław: a newly-designed backhoe loader. It is the only VCE factory in the world producing such a machine.
Apart from industrial operations, Volvo Polska comprises also service centres: Volvo Information Technology and Volvo Business Services. Production processes are supported by a dynamically developing Volvo Logistics, while Volvo Parts ensures smooth supply of spare parts to customers.

Volvo Information Technology

Volvo IT provides solutions for all areas of the production process and offers its unique skills and know-how in widely understood IT activities. The company’s customers include both Volvo Group companies and Ford-owned Volvo Car Corporation as well as other global industrial enterprises. The Mission of Volvo IT is to provide effective and cost-efficient IT solutions contributing to the long-term growth of business value for our customers.
Volvo Information Technology AB was established in 1998 as a subsidiary of AB Volvo, though its Volvo roots date back to 1967 when Volvo Data – Volvo IT’s predecessor – was set up. Currently, Volvo Information Technology employs around 6000 people all over the world in more than 30 locations.
Volvo IT’s activities in Poland began in 1999 when Volvo IT AB division was spun off from Volvo Polska. Volvo IT Poland is a team of over 300 highly qualified specialists providing services for Volvo Group and Volvo Car Corporation companies all over the world: e.g. Volvo Buses, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Parts, Renault Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Financial Services.
The employees of Volvo IT Poland ensure that complex IT systems function properly and meet the current demands of the customers. They also participate, with our partners from the other Volvo IT units, in system development and system maintenance in a number of various technologies e.g.: Microsoft .NET, JAVA, SAP, IBM iSeries, Mainframe.
Another important area of the activities of Volvo IT Poland is the provision of support to IT system users in over 30 countries of the world – from Poland and the majority of the European countries to Brazil, the United States of America or Malaysia. In all those countries the users of almost 100 different business applications are being supported by Volvo IT Poland.
